Showcase Sunday #81

Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. Hello everyone! How was your week? Are you enjoying the sunshine? We’ve had surprisingly great weather this week (considering that it’s England we’re talking about, it was rather on the hot side) so I tried to spend as much time as I could outdoors and soak up the sun in my lunch breaks.

Do you guys have anything exciting planned for the summer holidays?

Cat Clarke books

 Entangled | Boy21 | Torn | The Winter Foundlings

I had a brilliant week book-wise (especially compared to the past few weeks, when I was too busy with the new job and moving house to go book shopping) and got four shiny new books in the post. I was reading Cat Clarke’s Undone this week and a few chapters in I fell in love with her writing. I absolutely loved the main character, Cat’s style and… basically everything about it, so I decided to go and buy some of her other stuff. I asked you lovely lot on Twitter which one you’d recommend and most of you said Entangled, so it was a no-brainer. And since I loved the sound of Torn as well, I decided to take both. I’ve been meaning to read more YA this year anyway, so I’m really glad I found a new favourite author to add to my ever growing list.

Matthew Quick’s Boy21 was sent for review by the Bookbridgr team – I absolutely loved Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock, so I have high expectations for this one. The Winter Foundlings was a surprise from Mulholland Books – I haven’t read the author’s previous books but I love psychological thrillers so fingers crossed it’s going to be my cup of tea. Thanks, guys!

What books did you buy or receive this week?

I really want to see what you’ll think about all those Cat Clarke books and undone. All three sound really good. Great haul by the way.
It’s good to hear that the weather is nice even in England. It’s getting really hot here, in Greece and I already wish for my semester to be over so I can go to the beach.

Thanks! :) I loved Undone to bits – I’m just about write my review so it should be on the blog in a couple of days. I can’t wait to read the other two!

I can imagine how hot it must be over there! I went to Greece 8 years ago and even though it was late September, it was still boiling hot.

Glad you’re more settled now with house and job :)
I really need to catch up on some of Cat Clark’s books- I have only read one of her books which was Forgotten and thought that was brilliant. So hope you enjoy these :). I also got Boy 21 to review and looking forward to reading it. Have a great sunday.

Hasn’t it been gorgeous! I’ve actually had to spend my week in the north of England for work, and it’s been nearly as nice as France, where I normally live!
Some intriguing reads there – mine are nothing like as diverse, but will try and post them ASAP.

It’s been gorgeous, hasn’t it? It’s a bit cooler now – and next week should be the same – but summer is definitely here. :)
Can’t wait to see your haul!

Boy 21 looks great, I will definitely be on the lookout for the reviews. I heard some good things.
The rest looks great as well!

So glad you have nice weather, too! We’ve been boiling until 3 or so days ago, then summer storms came, and honestly I’m pretty glad, allergies have been driving me insane, and into the pharmacy, too, so I kinda like this peace. 😀

It does! Have you read any of his previous books?

I bet you are! 😀 I used to hate summer when I was in Hungary, it was always boiling hot, even in mid-May.
