Showcase Sunday #76

Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. Hello everyone! How are you? I’m still a bit tired after another hectic (but pretty damn good) Saturday. I think I mentioned it last week but Milena and I went to see Miranda Hart at the O2 yesterday, which was SO much fun. I love Miranda and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen all the episodes of her show at least 15 times, so seeing her live for the first time and in front of such a huge audience was amazing. Did anyone else see the show?

Showcase Sunday #76
Anybody Out There? | One Day | Revolutionary Road | Arms Wide Open | Just What Kind of Mother Are You?
Amity & Sorrow | The Facts of Life and Death

Book-wise, I had a pretty busy week. I popped into one of our local charity shops again and found One Day by David Nicholls and an almost brand new copy of Marian Keyes’s Anybody Out There? for 50p. Being a huge Marian fan, I have all of her books already, but I had to leave them at my parents’ house when I moved out. And since I can’t resist a bargain and I prefer these Penguin editions anyway (the other copy I have is the US hardback edition, I think) I had to have it.

Revolutionary Road, a signed copy of Just What Kind of Mother Are You? and Amity & Sorrow were giveaway wins from Lindsay at The Little Reader Library. Tom Winter’s newest book, Arms Wide Open is the only review book this week. I absolutely loved his previous novel so I have very high hopes for this one. And last but not least, Belinda Bauer’s newest was kindly sent to me by crime fiction writer extraordinaire, Sharon Bolton.

Thanks, Lindsay, Constable & Robinson and Sharon!

If you haven’t read it before, you’re going to love One Day. It’s so well written, I could’t put it down. :) I need to start searching more charity shops, you always seem to get such bargains!

I received Amity and Sorrow last month too, haven’t gotten around to it yet, but I think it’ll be a good one! :)

I’m glad you had an amazing time seeing Miranda! :) x

So glad you liked it! Tom definitely has a unique writing style – it’s very different from the other books I read but it makes him (and his books) more memorable. :)

Oooh! Lots of great books this week!
I’ve had One Day sitting on my bookcase for ages and I wanted to read it before I watched the film, but I ended up watching it anyways. I’m still looking forward to the book because I’ve heard it’s really good.
Is Anybody Out There? sounds really good! I haven’t read any of Marian Keyes books yet, but I really want to.
Great haul, Vicky! Happy reading 😀

Great haul, Vicky! I’ve only read one Marian Keyes novel (Last Chance Saloon I think? Or have I got the wrong author? I know I’ve read SOMETHING by her), and it was awesome! Not picked anything else up though, I don’t know why. Happy reading! :)

Nope, that’s her. :) I haven’t read that one yet. If you’re in the mood for another MK novel, read The Brightest Star in the Sky – I absolutely loved that one.
