Showcase Sunday #74

Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. Hello everyone! How are you all? Are you having a nice weekend? I’m having a lazy day for a change. I went into town yesterday and ended up going shopping (I fell in love with a cute little dress) but today is all about reading. I might have to go and buy some snacks but other than that, I’m staying in bed with my book and my cup of tea, thank you. :D

Showcase Sunday #74Sleepyhead | Looking for Alaska

Both of this week’s books are charity shop finds: I went to Stratford-upon-Avon with a friend last weekend and we went into one of the local charity shops on Sunday, where I found a copy of Mark Billingham’s Sleepyhead. It was only £1.45 and I’ve been meaning to check out his books for a while, so I couldn’t leave it there.

I found Looking for Alaska in one of our local charity shops yesterday and I couldn’t resist buying it. I’ve heard millions of amazing things about it from you guys and about John Green’s books in general so I want to give it a try. And it was only 50p. If that’s not a bargain then I don’t know what is. :D

Have you read either of these books yet? What did you think?

You can skip to the end and leave a response. Pinging is currently not allowed.

I’ve never been a big fan of dresses (I do like to see them on other people but I’m not a big fan of actually wearing them, if that makes any sense) but I couldn’t resist buying this one. It looks so cute! :)

  5. Ooh! I hope you enjoy Looking for Alaska, Vicky! It’s such a good book, although not my favourite of John Green’s. I love The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns the most. Charity shops are awesome, aren’t they? I usually pick up really good books from my local ones.

    Happy reading, Vicky!

I haven’t read the John Green book yet, but I do have it somewhere. I hope you enjoy both of those, and yay for getting them cheap! It would be hard to ignore books at those prices.

huge fan of Looking for Alaska and John Green’s books! The only thing I can say about it that I let they hype affect me too much while I was reading it and I expected too much!

Nothing better than a charity shop find! I love visiting place and seeing what I can find! :)

enjoy the rest of your weekend! xxx

Yeah, that’s what I’m afraid of as well. There was/is such a big hype around his books that I’m worried that I expect too much. I hope not!
