Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. Hello everyone and welcome to the first Showcase Sunday in February! *throws confetti* How are you? What have you been up to? I spent last weekend in London and didn’t have time to post a book haul, so I have two weeks’ worth of books to show you today.
Now is Good (also published as Before I Die) was a gift from Faye from A Daydreamer’s Thoughts. After seeing the trailer literally every single day and realizing Sarah Hadland had a cameo role in it I decided to watch the movie a few months ago and it completely broke my heart. I actually didn’t realize it was based on a book until Faye asked me if I wanted anything from her pile of books and I saw it among them. It’s a beautiful story and I’m sure the book will be just as heartbreaking and powerful as the movie was.
I already posted about This is the Life in yesterday’s posts, since it’s one of my picks for this month’s Review Copy Cleanup. Many thanks to HarperCollins for the review copy!
If you follow me on Twitter you might have seen that I attended the Faber & Faber blogger tea on Saturday, which was really fun. I will post about it in more detail and highlight some of their upcoming books later on but I wanted to show you what was in our goody bags. Each of us were given a Faber & Faber tote bag (which is probably one of the coolest tote bags I own – I love cats!) filled with two review copies. I’ve been meaning to read more middle-grade fiction for a while so I’m really excited about Flora in Love. Although, as it turns out, it’s the second book in the series so it probably won’t make much sense until I’ve read After Iris. On my wish list it goes!
