Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s Showcase Sunday! Just a brief warning, this week’s haul is massive. And by that I mean it’s an insane amount. I’ve never showcased such a huge amount of books in one day (and probably never will) so apologies for the lengthy post!
But before you think I completely lost it and went on a crazy shopping spree, I’ll tell you how it all happened. I was on Twitter (as usual) sometime in December and saw that Killer Reads, HarperCollins UK’s crime related website, was doing a huge Christmas giveaway. Each day Kate and Katie gave away a certain book, box set or other book related goodies, including a T-shirt and a The Shining Girls themed USB stick with a signed view-master. At the end of the 12-day-long giveaway they revealed that there would be a grand prize, which included ALL the books they gave away in the previous 12 days, as well as a Kindle.
And the lucky winner who won all those crime goodies was me.
I still can’t quite believe it. I’ve never won or got so many books all at once! Crime is my favourite genre so I cannot even tell you how excited I was (and still am) by seeing so many wonderful books all in one place.
I know. It’s insane. I literally spent at least half an hour standing before these piles just staring at them. I normally read somewhere between 55-65 books a year so this is pretty much an entire year’s worth of books for me. 😐 A massive thank you to the Killer Reads team for this amazing prize, you’ve made my year! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I also got a review copy during the week – Transworld asked me if I wanted to take part in the official blog tour in February and since this book has been on my wish list since last year, of course I couldn’t say no. If it sounds like something you’d enjoy then make sure to check back in a few weeks’ time because I’ll have a few copies to give away to a few lucky winners.
Have you read any of these books? What did you think?
