Showcase Sunday #67 – The One with ALL THE BOOKS!

Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s Showcase Sunday! Just a brief warning, this week’s haul is massive. And by that I mean it’s an insane amount. I’ve never showcased such a huge amount of books in one day (and probably never will) so apologies for the lengthy post!

But before you think I completely lost it and went on a crazy shopping spree, I’ll tell you how it all happened. I was on Twitter (as usual) sometime in December and saw that Killer Reads, HarperCollins UK’s crime related website, was doing a huge Christmas giveaway. Each day Kate and Katie gave away a certain book, box set or other book related goodies, including a T-shirt and a The Shining Girls themed USB stick with a signed view-master. At the end of the 12-day-long giveaway they revealed that there would be a grand prize, which included ALL the books they gave away in the previous 12 days, as well as a Kindle.

And the lucky winner who won all those crime goodies was me.

I still can’t quite believe it. I’ve never won or got so many books all at once! Crime is my favourite genre so I cannot even tell you how excited I was (and still am) by seeing so many wonderful books all in one place.

I know. It’s insane. I literally spent at least half an hour standing before these piles just staring at them. I normally read somewhere between 55-65 books a year so this is pretty much an entire year’s worth of books for me. 😐 A massive thank you to the Killer Reads team for this amazing prize, you’ve made my year! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I also got a review copy during the week – Transworld asked me if I wanted to take part in the official blog tour in February and since this book has been on my wish list since last year, of course I couldn’t say no. If it sounds like something you’d enjoy then make sure to check back in a few weeks’ time because I’ll have a few copies to give away to a few lucky winners.

Have you read any of these books? What did you think?

I know! They’ll probably keep me busy for the rest of this year, what with work and my review copies as well. Thanks, Nikki! Hope you had a nice weekend. x

I’m pretty sure I will! And yes, I know! I’ve actually read most of these Christie books but quite a long time ago (with the exception of The Mysterious Affair at Styles) so I wouldn’t mind reading them again. Also, these are all reissues and the covers are just stunning.

Wow! That is an insane amount of books! Congrats on winning the grand prize! 😀
The Key and The Tower both sound amazing! I’ve heard a lot of great things about the Game trilogy, so I hope it’s good! I still need to get around to reading The Shining Girls because it sounds brilliant.
Great haul, Vicky! I hope you have fun working your way through all of these books :)

I LOVE Agatha Christie, and I have and have read almost every book she wrote. I joined a club several years ago that featured her books in a leather bound with beautifully designed front and back pages. Marbling I think they call it. Anyhow, I got most of them through that. The Murder of Rodger Ackroyd is quite a little mind spin! Congrats on winning such a large amount of crime reads! :)

Thanks, Rachel! And I wish you lived a little bit closer – I have a feeling we’d get along really well. :) Christie is one of my favourite authors and I’ve been collecting her books for a couple of years. I’ve only read about 30-40 but it’s only a matter of time…

And The Murder of Rodger Ackroyd is actually one of my favourites! I LOVED the twist.

WOW. Ooooh The Shining Girls is SO GOOD. I have the first in Simon Toyne’s trilogy but haven’t read it but they sound fantastic too. I have yet to read anything by Koontz and I’ve decided that his Odd books are going to be my first reads. Might try it on audio. And look at all those Agatha Christie books! That is such an amazing amount of books, congrats! And happy reading. 😀

Hope you enjoy reading them all. I recently started reading Crime Novels. I find I love a good thriller.
