Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. Hello everybody! I had another busy week – I started looking for Christmas presents for bookish friends and family earlier this week, met up with Petra from Hazel the Witch in London and had a wonderful day, and started scheduling reviews for the next couple of weeks. Phew! I can’t believe it’s almost December, by the way. I clearly remember me saying ‘I can’t believe it’s almost November’ and it feels like yesterday. How did this HAPPEN?!
Both last week’s book (Sacrifice) and this week’s one (The Book Thief) were sent to me by the lovely Transworld Books team. There was a giveaway on the Random House website a few weeks ago and I was one of the lucky winners who got a signed first edition of Sharon (S.J.) Bolton’s Sacrifice. I loved Sharon’s Lacey Flint series so I can’t wait to read this one!
If you visited the blog this time last week, you might remember that The Book Thief was featured in my 2014 wish list post. I’ve been meaning to read this book for ages so when Transworld sent me a review copy I might have done a little happy dance! I’m going home for Christmas in a few weeks’ time so I know what I’ll be reading on the plane. (Considering the fact that it’s a very sad book it might not be such a good idea, though.)
I also got some VERY exciting and wonderful presents from my John Lewis Secret Santa which I’ll show you in a separate post next week.
What did you guys get this week? Have you read either of these two books? Are they any good?
