Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. Hello everyone and happy Sunday! How are you all? How was your week? Did you celebrate World Book Day on Thursday?
And before I forget: is anyone going to the London Book Fair this year? I have some review copies I’d love to bring with me just in case anyone is up for a book swap – and more importantly, it would be lovely to meet you guys! I’ll try not to forget it and do a blog post about it in early April and show you all the books I’d like to swap but do let me know if you already know you’re going!
In other news, I got two books this week:
Flutter by Gina Linko (from the author)
Fear the Worst by Linwood Barclay (book swap)
I had a pretty slow and meh week in every possible way but these two books definitely cheered me up! Gina was kind enough to send me a signed copy of her book which I’ve heard lots of great things about AND I also managed to get a second hand copy of a Linwood Barclay book via a local book swap site I told you about a few weeks ago, so huzzah! Apart from the creased spine it’s in a pretty good condition so it was definitely worth swapping. And apart from these two books, I have some Kindle goodies to show you:
Ebooks for review
(click on the covers to check out the synopsis)
Many thanks to Simon & Schuster, Choc Lit, and Exhibit A!
Some of you may remember that I read and reviewed Evonne’s previous book, Never Coming Home last year and absolutely loved it. Apparently, her new book is something similar genre-wise so I can’t wait to pick it up. I’m not sure about this whole mind reading/paranormal-ish element but the people at Choc Lit reassured me that it plays only a minor part in the story so I should be safe. We’ll see! Dear Lucy is actually the very first book I got approved for on Edelweiss – insert violent confetti-throwing and happy-dancing here – and again, it’s something I’ve seen quite a lot lately. Let’s hope it’s going to be as good as it sounds.
And that’s it for this week!
If you did a Showcase Sunday post, make sure to link up below – and feel free to leave me some comment love, you know I love reading them! Take care everyone and see you soon! x

You too!
I LOVE Linwood Barclay books so I’m looking forward to hearing what you think of this one!
And Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind is definitely worth the read – I echo what Choc Lit has said, it is so much more than a paranormal book
Hope you have a lovely Sunday hun

I’ve only read one of his books so far but it was pretty good
Looking forward to reading this one! And after your review, I can’t wait to pick up Evonne’s book either
Hope you had a nice weekend! xxx
Ooh, Flutter sounds really good! Adding it to my TBR list. Scare Me sounds like it’ll be really creepy! Hope you enjoy all of these books!

Agreed! It definitely sounds like one of those books that shouldn’t be read at night…
Great haul this week Vicky. Scare Me seems really interesting, can’t wait to read your review.
Enjoy your new books

I’ll have to check out your wishlist and see if there’s anything I can bring along. Not bothered about getting anything in return as the books are taking over here!
If we can arrange a meeting time and place outside of working hours, we might be able to encourage a few London bloggers along who aren’t going to the fair too.

Ellie recently posted..Incoming!
That’s a great idea! There’s a few bloggers who – although they don’t live in London – said they might be able to catch a train and see us in the afternoon, even if they don’t go to the LBF itself, so we’ll see!
Great books this week, Vicky! I have been eying up Out of Sight out of Mind recently! I hope you enjoy all these pretties!

I loved her previous book so I have a good feeling about this one. Will keep you posted.
I love popping over here, because I never quite know what to expect on your SS with your eclectic collections of books. Have a great Sunday, Vicky, and happy reading.

Thanks, Julie! And hope you enjoy The Other Life. I loved that book!
There covers all so awesome! I need to get back to mysteries a little, haven’t read one in a while.
Enjoy your books!

I like the cover of Dear Lucy! Not sure what it’s about, but it looks like a contemporary novel.
Happy reading.

Love the cat mug!
Hope you enjoy your books this week, I’ve never read any Linwood Barclay before, I’ll have to look out for the name at the library. LBF sounds awesome, I am at a conference in Exeter at the end of that week though so I don’t think it’s a possibility for me sadly!

Scare Me sounds pretty intense, in a completely scare my pants off, this sounds amazing, I will be sleeping with the lights on, kind of way. Can’t wait to see what you think of it!
See what I got this week at Read. Sleep. Repeat.
Did you see the film Lost Highway? That’s what the synopsis reminded me of. I’m sure it’s going to be quite creepy in a sleeping with the lights on way as you said
Will let you know!
Lucky you! I still have never been accepted by Edelweiss, guess I will have to wait a little longer D:
Have a great week!

It’s so weird, isn’t it?! I mean, I’ve been approved for almost every title I’ve ever requested on Netgalley so I’ve no idea why Edelweiss is different. Very odd indeed. Maybe it’s because we requested from the US catalogues instead of the global or UK ones? Hmm.
Anyway, you too! Hope you had a nice weekend
Why? Is there an international catalog?! LOL maybe that’s it.
SaraEchelon5 recently posted..Showcase Sunday #18
There’s a ‘global’ one, yes. (You can switch between different catalogues at the very top of the page, near the Edelweiss logo if I remember correctly) But I don’t know if it makes any difference
I’ve heard great things about Flutter! And your cat mug is so cute!

Enjoy your new reads

Aww I love your cat mug!
I’d really love to go to the London Book Fair but I’m not sure yet if I’ll be able to. Will let you know if I can!

Your books look really good this week, hope you enjoy reading them. I’m really interested in what the Exhibit A book is like, as I think Angry Robot are a really strong publisher of SFF (and Strange Chemistry of YA too). Happy reading and have a lovely week!
Vicky H recently posted..Showcase Sunday #9
Oh, do let me know!
It’d be great to see you. I’m really intrigued by Scare Me but I don’t think I’ve read any Angry Robot books yet. *strokes chin* Will let you know how it was!
That looks like a great assortment of new books! Happy reading and have a great week!
PS Love your mug:)

Your mug is too cute :3 Some great books this week – so jealous you’ve got a signed copy of Flutter!
Now that you’ve brought it to my attention I might pop on down to the London Book Fair since it’s in my Easter holidays and not that far away
Probably won’t have anything interesting worth swapping though

YAY for your first Edelweiss approval! I usually use it to stalk HarperTeen/Balzer+Bray/Greenwillow books, since they aren’t on NetGalley anymore.
Have a fab week, Vicky!
