Showcase Sunday #37

Kisscut by Karin Slaughter (book swap)
Adrenaline
by Jeff Abbott (book swap)
Tangled Lives
by Hilary Boyd (for review)
Now You See Me
by S.J. Bolton (purchased)
Dead Scared
by S.J. Bolton (purchased)

SCREAM! My S.J. Bolton books have finally arrived! I’ve already read (and reviewed) Now You See Me since the people at Transworld were lovely enough to send me an e-copy but it was so good I just had to have it on my bookshelf. Judging by your comments on my review, Dead Scared – the second book in the series- is supposed to be just as brilliant so I’m really looking forward to reading it! And my copy of Tangled Lives also arrived this week, so an enormous thank you goes to Quercus for sending me a copy. Has anyone read it yet? What did you think?

E-books
(click on the book covers to check out the synopsis)

Sky on  Fire by Emmy Laybourne (for review)
Sons and Lovers by D.H. Lawrence (Kindle freebie)

Sky on Fire!!!! I started listening to the audio book of Monument 14 – the first book in the series – the other day and really enjoyed it so far so I can’t wait to pick this one up. I’ll probably post my review a bit closer to the release day (May 28) but keep your eyes peeled. :) By the way, to those of you who also requested it on Netgalley: is it just me or the ‘Send to Kindle’ button is not showing up?!

Also, make sure to link up your own Showcase Sunday posts below if you did one and/or leave a comment so that I can check them out! Have a lovely weekend :) xxx

Thank you! <3 And yes I am! I can’t wait to start reading it :) I’ll be buddy-reading with Nat from Besotted with Books so I’m waiting for her to get her books and read Now You See Me, so it’ll be a while before I can pick it up. But I have so many awesome mysteries and thrillers waiting to be read that I don’t really mind waiting. :)

Hope you had a nice weekend! xxxxxxxxxx

  4. Some great books you have there although I have never heard of any of them until now. Hope you enjoy your new books :)

  5. Great haul this week. I hope Dead Scared is as good as Now You See Me, cause you seemed to love that one :) Enjoy all your new books.

  25. Octavia says:

Now You See Me sounds really good! I seriously have to start reading more mystery/thriller books, get out of my current comfort zone you know? Any way, I’m sure you will enjoy your haul, and now I’m off to read your review of Now You See Me. ;)

See what I grabbed this week at Read. Sleep. Repeat.

    • Vicky says:

I know! :) That’s exactly how I feel about certain genres too. Crime is the one I can always turn to but sometimes it’s good to step out of your comfort zone and try something new, something different :)

  26. Megan K. says:

Whoa – SKY ON FIRE, Vicky, you lucky girl! I requested it from NetGalley a couple of days ago but haven’t received a response yet, so I’m waiting anxiously with my fingers crossed. :P Hope you enjoy it, because MONUMENT 14 was surprisingly good!

And I still need to check out your review on NOW YOU SEE ME. It looks interesting, and you loved it, so… ;)

Enjoy, and have a wonderful week!

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you! :D *crosses her fingers and toes* I’m on Macmillan’s auto-approve list so that’s why I managed to get it so quickly – but there are two other titles from two other publishers that I’ve been waiting for ages and I still haven’t heard back from them :(

  27. Bonnie says:

I love those books that you read and adore and determine they deserve a place on your shelf. Hope you love the second installment as much as you did the first! :) Tangled Lives sounds intriguing but potentially sad.. Happy Reading!
