Hello everyone and welcome back! Hope you all had a nice (and stress-free) week! I didn’t have time to do a SS post last week so the books below are from the past two weeks.
Incoming

The 5th Horseman by James Patterson (swapped)
Under Your Skin by Sabine Durrant (for review)
The Love Book by Fiona O’Brien (for review)
Burning Blue by Paul Griffin (gift)
Within These Walls by Rev. Carroll Pickett (swapped)
First of all, an enormous thank you and lots of big hugs go to the lovely Henrietta from Leisure Reads who emailed me just before the new year, saying that she’s reading Paul Griffin’s Burning Blue (a book which has been on my wishlist for absolutely AGES) and she’s really enjoying it. Then I woke up the next morning and saw that she sent me an Amazon gift card so that I can order a copy. *sniffs* I’ve been blogging for almost 1,5 years but the kindness of bookish people still amazes me. Thank you so much, H! ♥
Also, a massive thank you goes to Hodder & Stoughton for the two review copies!
Other news
It has absolutely nothing to do with books but… I got ombre hair!!!!

Ombre basically means that your hair is darker at the roots and then gradually gets lighter near the ends. I’ve been thinking about giving it a try for a while but I always chickened out at the last minute. I’m really glad I got it done, though – I love it already! *end of shameless self-plug*
What did you guys get in the past two weeks? What did I miss?
If you did a Showcase Sunday post, make sure to link up below – and feel free to leave me some comment love, you know I love reading them! x

Your hair looks AMAZING! And it’s so long and beautiful – I have hair envy I must admit! Yours is gorgeous, and the ombre looks fab
Non-book related but I picked up mine and Stephen’s wedding rings last weekend, and I went to try on my wedding dress last Friday – It is GORGEOUS and it fits perfectly!!! If you search google images for ‘mori lee 1612′ then there ill be pictures of a model wearing the dress I have
I’m so excited I had to share with you
Hope you have a lovely Sunday

Very excited about it!
I get married Saturday June 8th
So not much longer to go! I’m having dusky pink and cream flowers to match, and my overall theme is like a vintage dusky pink so hopefully I’ll have some sunny weather on the day!

Burning Blue sound fantastic. And I agree, the many bloggers I know astound me with their kindness and guidance when I started back in July. I have started to read James Patterson books in the YA section and they are not bad, I haven’t read many male writers because they don’t really agree with me.
Your hair is gorgeous… I wish I had hair like that…though I do love it now naturally then I did when I was younger!
Happy Sunday.
P.s I forgot to ask, how did your Christmas Cooking go with the cookbooks you got before Christmas? I done my Christmas puddings and they turned out brilliantly!

I did make some chocolate biscuits, though – but I still need to try the rest of those recipes!
Ah, Christmas time turned out to be pretty hectic and we were away for a while so I didn’t get to bake as much as I wanted to.
ooh Burning Blue does sound amazing! glad you got a copy! and yea Ombre hair looks good! I got my hair dip dyed red but now i darkened it a bit

Love the hair Vicky! The colour looks great. Mine is bright red at the bottom right now, but I’m debating blue or purple next…
Hope you enjoy your books this week, Burning Blue sounds really good and quite unusual. I haven’t ever read any James Patterson, but a friend of mine reads them all as soon as they’re released, so I hope it’s a good one you got in your swap!
kit recently posted..Showcase Sunday #16
Let’s hope so! I haven’t read any Patterson books either so I’ve no idea what to expect. Your hair must be gorgeous, by the way! I love ombre hair with bright ends like red/pink or turquoise.
I’m sure purple or blue would look great as well! Will you let me know if you pluck up the courage and give it a try? I’d love to see the result! xxx
Still totally loving the hair…and you may have gotten a few pretty interesting books this week too! LOL Enjoy!
PS. More nail polish posts please:)

There’s one coming up this week if it’s any consolation! (I just need to find the time to sit down and schedule it, argh!) Although it might look familiar if you’ve been reading my tweets for a while x
Vicky, your hair is absolutely gorgeous!!! I have length envy over here … I try to grow mine and then I seem to give up at a certain point, but now I will stick with it and grow it so I can have awesome hair like yours!
Enjoy your week!

Wow, that was so sweet of Henrietta! Hope you enjoy the book
And your ombre hair looks gorgeous! I’ve been wondering for a while whether to try ombre too. Either that or dye the ends a bright colour like purple… if I got up the courage
Enjoy your week and happy reading!

Love the ombre hair. I’ve been seeing it around a lot and it looks really good on your hair too.

Your hair looks gorgeous. So shiny. I love how subtle the difference in colour is too. I want to do something new with my hair but I’m too scared haha!
Hope all of your exams and uni work went okay! I’m loving having some free time before having to do more essays and my dissertation

Becca @ Lost in Thought recently posted..Showcase Sunday #26
So do I! People here really are amazing, aren’t they?
Haha, I know! I’ve wanted to change things up a bit for SUCH a long time but I always chickened out in the end. Ombre looks good and I really like how the ends turned out colour-wise but I realised I’m rubbish at blow-drying my hair. I mean, it looks super shiny and wavy when I leave the salon but as soon as I wash it and have to do the whole blow-drying process all over again, it looks… er… boring.
Oh dear, when’s the deadline for your dissertation? I *just* finished my last exam but I have to hand in my dissertation (which I haven’t even started yet) in early March…. Grrrrrrrrrrrr!
Good luck hun! xxxxx
Great haul this week, I will have to check these out to find out more.
Love the hair!!!!

First, *love* your hair. I’m a little jealous of it’s length since I can’t grow mine past my shoulders without having to chop it off (I constantly pull it lol). Second, I can’t wait to see what you think of Burning Blue. That one is up next in my reading pile
And third, who does your layout? I love it and I need a blog makeover desperately.
Tiffany Drew recently posted..Showcase Sunday (39)
Ah, thank you so much! I know Burning Blue is supposed to be good and it’s been on my wishlist for ages so I’m really looking forward to reading it as well.
As for the layout: Bex helped me move my template over from Blogger a year ago and tweak my existing design and I made the header/blog button/SS button myself.
Cool books. I’m gonna have to check these out. Love the hair, btw.

So that’s what Ombre is? thanks for explaining it. My older cousin was asking me if I wanted my hair like that and I played it off cool but I had no idea what she was talking about, lol. I think your hair looks gorgeous, the waves are really pretty, and now that I do know what it is, I kinda would love Ombre hair. Though, im so clueless when it comes to my hair and makeup. Accesories are more my area of expertise, haha. Anywhoo, im getting off track, just wanted to say that

Jennifer @ Dream Reads recently posted..Showcase Sunday (19) – Stacking the Shelves (11)
Bahaha!
Thank you! I kinda miss these waves too – my hair’s dead straight normally and I’m just hopeless at blowdrying it properly.
Really nice books and I hope you love them!
Love your hair, is so long and pretty, on the opposite side I got a haircut yesterday because mine was getting too long

Liza @ Reading with ABC recently posted..My Thoughts: A Book is Much More than Paper

I love your hair! It always looks so nice anyway, but this new color technique is very nice.
Can you believe that I still have not read a James Patterson book. I really need to. Enjoy all of your books.
