I had another slow (and exhausting) week BUT! Look what has finally arrived! *drumroll*

Showcase Sunday #30

I’m probably the only remaining person here who hasn’t read Insurgent but I’ll SO pick it up in the new year! I read Divergent this year and I absolutely loved it so when Emlyn from Novel Publicity sent me an Amazon gift card for Thanksgiving, I knew I had to have the sequel. (Thanks Em! ♥) I know many of you said that it’s quite disappointing and it wasn’t as good as the first book but I’m really looking forward to reading it. I hope I’ll still enjoy it.

Those of you who have already read it: what did you think? Did it live up to your expectations?

  1. I absolutely loved Insurgent, It really didn’t disappoint for me really! I thought the development of Four’s and Tris’s relationship was just magical. Roth’s writing is flawless. so I’m going to say that I disagree that it was a let down, I gave it 5 stars.

    Brilliant haul Vicky! :D

BTW do you have the Linky for the Feature. I can’t seem to find it! Just so I can add my SS???

That’s a huge relief! I’m really looking forward to reading it in the new year :)

And yes, the linky’s there now. It hated me yesterday morning and wouldn’t show up for some reason… *shakes fist*

  2. Henrietta says:

I actually liked Insurgent more than Divergent. I felt really moved by the emotional ups and downs of Tris and I loved the surprise at the end. Hope you’ll enjoy it :)

I also preferred Insurgent to Divergent – there was so much more action and exploration of the different fractions and the ending will have you wanting more immediately! :-)

  4. You’re not the only one who hasn’t read Insurgent yet. I’ve been meaning to pick it up since it came out but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. Now I’ve got another book to add to my Christmas wishlist.

I still haven’t even read DIVERGENT so you’re far from the only one! Maybe I’ll finally get to it in 2013?

Just working on today’s pre-Christmas book haul post right now, with a few naughty purchases (*cough cough*) plus a handful of early Christmas presents that I couldn’t resist opening… My inner six year old is strong this week, apparently. :)

I know that feeling… ;) I’ve an early Christmas present I’m not supposed to open until next week but it’s really tempting! I managed to resist the temptation up until now, but…

Oh! Is it another Penguin haul? :D

  7. I really enjoyed Insurgent actually! I think I gave Divergent 5 stars and Insurgent 4.5 stars, but it was a very good sequel. I can’t wait to see what you think of it. :)

  11. I wasn’t disappointed by Insurgent, but I thought it wasn’t as good as Divergent. There were some things that bothered me, but the overall story was great and I liked the plot! :) Happy reading!

Ah, don’t worry – I haven’t read it until a few months ago either. :) (and I haven’t read the Hunger Games either. I know, I know) You’re not the only one, though. Judging by the comments here there are still quite many people who haven’t picked it up. :)

  29. I have a collectors edition of Insurgent but I haven’t even read Divergent yet! As soon as I find a cheap hardcover it is going to the top of my reading list.

  30. Divergent was my FAVOURITE for 2011 so naturally I’d preordered a copy of Insurgent and tore into it as soon as it arrived. I wasn’t disappointed in the least. I love both books and am not worried at all that the next book will pale in comparison.

    Enjoy!

    Check out what I got!
