Hello and welcome to Showcase Sunday. Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. For more information about how this feature works and how to join in, click here.
Incoming books
Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte (library)
Ten by Gretchen McNeil (for Kindle)
I had another quiet week (two weeks, actually). I’m waiting for about 3 or 4 review copies at the moment and none of them have turned up yet. I don’t know what happened since they’ve been posted ages ago, but well… all I can do is wait, I suppose.
Anyway, I had to borrow Agnes Grey from the library for one of my classes and I also decided to buy the Kindle version of Gretchen McNeil’s Ten. Ten has been on my wishlist for ages and I knew I wouldn’t be able to wait until it comes out in paperback next year, so I ordered the ebook. I’m really looking forward to reading it!
In other news, Halloween is just around the corner and I’ve some fun posts scheduled for the following week. Halloween week at Books, Biscuits, and Tea kicked off on Tuesday so make sure to check out my Top 5 Halloween Reads and my Top 5 list of creepy book covers if you’re interested! And as always, feel free to send me a link to your own Halloween related posts so that I can check them out.
Shameless plug
As of yesterday evening, Books, Biscuits, and Tea has its own Twitter account! For bookish news, updates and ramblings make sure to hit the follow button below. I’ll follow back, of course.

I love these little Penguin Classic editions. I have several around here. Ten is a book I’m very excited about, I hope I’ll find the time to read it soon.
Happy reading!
So do I. I’ve most of Jane Austen’s books and some other classics by Penguin, I really like them. And yes! I’m so excited about Ten. It must be a page-turner!
Wow! I really like the Halloween edition of Showcase Sunday header!

Thanks Z!
I loved TEN. I had pre-ordered it. Couldn’t really wait to read it. I hope you love it too. I love what you did with the Showcase Sunday button for Halloween, really cute.

Also great idea to make a seperate account just for your blog on twitter, I was thinking about it lately too, but still don’t know if it’s worth it. I am not much of a twitter user.
Go read TEN, I want to read your thoughts on it

Thanks V!
Yeah, I just wanted a separate account where all I’m talking about is book/blog related stuff. I love Twitter and I use it quite a lot so I hope it won’t be a problem. I’m off to visit your blog now!
Ooooh I would love Ten! I got so many awesome books the this week but blogger is being a serious pain so I am refusing to fight with it, lol! Will have to do 2 weeks next week. Enjoy!

Again?! Oh dear… Blogger’s been just a pain in the butt lately
(and this is why I’m so glad I switched to WP all those months ago)
Ohhhhhhhhhh Ten. I still haven’t got to reading it yet, despite my stalkish pre-ordering tendencies. Soon!
Have a great week V

I know! I was tempted to pre-order it but I decided to wait. I hope it was worth it
Have a great weekend K!
Ten sounds so great, I hope I can read it sometime soon. I love the Helloween theme! Sadly I won’t be celebrating Helloween this year, since all of my friends are going to some concert *shakes fist*
Oh well, happy reading!

I’m quite curious about Ten. I’ve heard good things about it so far and look forward to seeing what you make of it.
Nice haul!

So did I!
I tried to avoid reading any reviews just in case I find a spoiler so I don’t know what to expect. I hope it’s good!
I can’t wait to read Ten! It sounds amazing.
Halloween isn’t very popular here in Australia but I am noticing a lot more marketing, overgrown pumpkins & themed items around our shops for it lately, lots of fun
Happy reading!
Same here, unfortunately. It’s not v. popular here in Hungary either but there are some people who do celebrate it in some way. There’s no trick or treating, for example, but I always try to get together with friends and carve pumpkins, watch films or bake some Halloween cakes together.
I hate that wait for books to arrive – when you know they’ve been sent but take ages to arrive on you doorstep! Hopefully you books will arrive soon!

I know! And I swear to God Hungarian post is getting slower every year. I just hope they’re not lost
I enjoyed Agnes Grey. It’s more in Austen style than Bronte. Hope you’ll like it, too.

I read The Tenant of Wildfell Hall two weeks ago and I found it quite Austen-like as well. It was pretty good, though, so I hope AG is just as good.
Haven’t read that yet, though I already have the BBC adaptation on DVD.
Have to read and watch it soon.

I’ve been seeing Ten around a lot lately and it sounds really interesting

I’m tempted to read Ten, I’ve been desperately steering clear of reviews as I don’t want to accidentally read too much about it, or fall over a spoiler! I’m definitely intrigued by it, though.
Hope you have a good Halloween, I am still debating what to wear to my friend’s costume party!

I read Ten a last week and it was enjoyable but I think predictable for those of us who’ve read the Christie! Hope you anjoy it and the Bronte!
Melissa recently posted..Added to the Bookshelf – 10/21/12
It is? Uh-oh. You mean… is it like And Then There Were None, or is it simply predictable if you’ve read Christie’s books?
Now I’m REALLY curious.
You got TEN! :O I’m really DYING to read that book, but I’ve been all out on pocket-money recently, so I’m going to have to control my spendings from now on…
I really hope you enjoy it, but either way, I can’t wait to hear what you think!
P.S. Really love the new SS meme picture! Halloween, eh?

Same here! I’m trying to save up some money so from now on I’ll have to stick with library books and borrowed ones. *sigh*
Hi Vicky,
Firstly, love the special version of the banner for Hallowe’en. Just nicely captures the spookiness of the season.
Envious of you being able to get Ten for the Kindle. It’s still in Hardcover only format in the UK and I’d really like to give it a whirl.
Best wishes and happy reading.
Theta Sigma recently posted..Showcase Sunday/Letterbox Love/Stacking The Shelves/Bought, Borrowed & Bagged
Aw. Isn’t it available for Kindle yet? Boo. Yeah, Amazon won’t let me use the UK site for Kindle downloads which comes in handy sometimes. Thank God the US site already has it.
I really want to read TEN, it looks great! And yay for Anne Bronte
and I now follow you on Twitter, whoop! x
Ooh I haven’t heard much about Ten so will definitely need to check this one out
I’m looking forward to Halloween. We’re having a little party as a family mainly for my little niece and nephew

I haven’t read any books by Anne Brontë. If it’s more like Austen’s style, maybe I’ll check them out.
Just curious… would you be baking pumpkin cookies for Halloween?
Have a lovely week

Henrietta recently posted..Showcase Sunday (16)
Hmm, I’ve only read one of her other books (The Tenant of Wildfell Hall) and it was very much like Austen’s books. If you like her then I’m sure you’d enjoy the Brontes’ work as well.
And yes, I will be baking Halloween cookies! Can’t wait!
Enjoy baking

I’ve been hearing great things about Ten. I want to read it but I’m kind of scared lol.
When I saw you’d followed me on Twitter from your new account, I realized how much I’ve missed talking to you lately! I think about you often, and I get your blog updates via email, but we haven’t actually talked in ages! <3
Here's my book haul if you’d like to see what I got this week.

The Ten sounds so cool. Awesome you are now on twitter too.
Actually, I’ve been on Twitter since 2009 but my blog hasn’t got a separate account up until now.
I just wanted to separate my blog related and personal tweets.
I have been dying to get Ten, I hear it’s really good; Happy reading!
