This week on Books, Biscuits, and Tea
This week was a pretty exciting one – I celebrated my 1 year blogoversary on Monday and throughout the week. Wahooo! I know it’s over but I’m still in a post-celebratory mood.
I didn’t have much time for blogging because it was a super hectic week at uni, though, and I’m exhausted. I’ve tons of dramas, novels and various articles to read for next week so I don’t know how much time I’ll have for reading either. Anyway, if you have missed my posts this week, here’s what’s happened:
♦ I celebrated my first blogoversary on Monday and I’m having an international giveaway as well – make sure to check it out and enter if you haven’t entered yet.
♦ On Wednesday I posted about my best blogging related moments in the past 12 months
♦ And on Friday I answered all the questions you asked me last week in a blogoversary interview
Incoming books
The Confidant by Héléne Grémillon
The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling
Survive by Alex Morel
Once again, it was quite a slow week – I got a surprise on Monday, which is a paperback copy of The Confidant. It’s for review from the awesome people at Gallic Books – thank you! I also bought the new JKR book which I’m pretty excited about and Alex Morel’s Survive, which has been on my wishlist for ages. They’re both ebooks – normally I’d prefer paperbacks but since I’m rapidly running out of shelfspace and I’m always on the go these days, I decided to opt for the ebooks. Again, since uni books must be my number one priority right now, I don’t know when I’ll be able to read them but I’m really looking forward to it.
Oh, and I almost forgot – I’ve a great opportunity for you guys! Novel Publicity is currently recruiting for a gigantic whirlwind tour. Each of these whirlwind tours boasts hundreds of dollars in cash prizes and autographed books, sometimes even Kindle Fires. We provide eBook copies for all reviewers, but you don’t have to read the books in order to participate. We will provide your choice of a pre-formatted excerpt, interview, or guest post to make participation easy. We’d love to have you review them though, and that’s an option too! The blog tour in question is for a book called Love Comes Later. For more information and to sign-up, just visit the link here and fill-out the simple form.
What did you get this week? Have you read The Casual Vacancy yet? What did you think? Make sure to leave a link to your own Showcase Sunday post in the linky below and feel free to leave a comment after linking up. Have a great weekend and see you soon!

Of course, The Casual Vacancy
I’m quite nervous to read J.K.’s post Harry Potter book though. I plan to wait for some convincing reviews first before joining the bandwagon! ^_^ Nothing against J.K, it’s just I’m not so much of an adult books reader.

SQUEEEE!!! You got THE CASUAL VACANCY! I haven’t been hearing much about it, though, so I can’t wait to hear what you think.
I’ve been dying to read SURVIVE as well. You’re so lucky to get it.
Enjoy all your marvelous books, Vicky, and have a lovely week!

I DID!
I tried to avoid reading reviews of it so I’ve absolutely NO idea what to expect, though. We’ll see!
Yay for The Casual Vacancy, I am patiently waiting on my review copy to arrive, they said it was posted on Thursday so fingers crossed it will be here on Mon. I also love the sound of Survive! I hope you enjoy these, Vicky!

And I hope you enjoy it! x
The Confidant sounds good! I actually don’t think I’ll read The Casual Vacancy – but then I’ve never read any JK Rowling (I know!)

GASP!!!! How come?
Hmm…I think expectations are so high for The Casual Vacancy it would be next to impossible to make everyone happy…I’m going to wait for the paperback myself!

Yay for The Casual Vacancy! I still haven’t got a copy yet, the initial reviews are a little worrying, but here’s to hoping we both enjoy it. Hope you get to squeeze in some reading around uni work. Survive also sounds fantastic too! Hope you enjoy all your books Vicki!

Thanks J! That’s why I tried to avoid reading people’s reviews in the past few days… so I don’t know what to expect.
Oooh, you have the new JKR. And Survive looks pretty chilling, I think. Hope you enjoy them.

I have mixed feelings about Casual Vacancy, I still hope that Rowling will get back to Harry Potter’s world. I will never stop hoping she will write something more about it. And I have no idea if I will read the Casual Vacancy…I am waiting for more reviews to pop up to decide. Enjoy your new books.

Oh that’d be great! I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t Harry Potter related, but at least something similar. I wouldn’t mind another HP-like series either
That’d be fantastic!
Ooh, can’t wait to read your review of The Casual Vacancy

I really want to read Survive don’t know what it’s about but I just love the cover! On the other side I don’t like The Casual Vacancy cover so don’t know when or if I will read it. I know don’t judge a book by it’s cover but it’s what I do

Kate @ Kates Book Life recently posted..Showcase Sunday #17
Yeah, I don’t like the cover at all. But as long as the story is OK, I don’t mind.
(and it’s an ebook anyway) x
Nice! Haven’t decided yet if I want to read JK’s new book. Sad. Like 2 years ago I would’ve been all over it. But since my TBR pile has grown exceedingly in those 2 years, I’ve become pickier about my reads. Might still get it if reviews are good.
Happy Reading!!

I can’t bring myself to read about the depressingness of the British government in fiction form so I won’t be reading The Casual Vacancy, at least not until it’s out in paperback. I’m sure she’s done a good job, it’s just not a subject I care for.

I have heard so much about The Casual Vacancy. I never finished the Harry Potter series so I doubt I will be picking her new one up. I’m interesed to see what peoples reviews on it are though.

Survive looks really, really good — I’ve seen it on a few lists in the past weeks! And I bought The Casual Vacancy, too … I’m not too far in yet, but it’s not bad! Not my favourite, but not too bad. I’m eager to hear your thoughts on it!
Have a good week, Vicky!

I can’t wait to start reading it! I don’t know if it’ll be my cup of tea or not but I’m really curious now.
Oh, Survive! I’m anxious to read that. I think I may be the only person on the planet who has no interest in Casual Vacancy lol. Happy reading!!

The Confidant looks really interesting. I hope you’ll enjoy it!
I’m still on the fence about The Casual Vacancy. I guess I’m not sure if I want to read something non-magical by JKR.
Hope you’ll have a wonderful week. Can’t believe October is almost here!

AHH, JK ROWLING!! I am not sure whether to read it or not, since it is an adult novel… but who are we kidding? It’s JK Rowling
I hope you enjoy your books and manage to get through your uni ones.
I’m actually really scared to read The casual vacancy, so I’m looking forward to see what you think about it
Happy reading!

I’m not sure about reading The Casual Vacancy just because it doesn’t sound like my cup of tea but we’ll see. Really looking forward to your review though, so I hope uni books (aren’t they troublesome when it comes to reading your own books?!) don’t keep you away from it for too long!

My IMM
For starters, happy blogoversary! I feel sort of bad for JK Rowling because everyone has these super impossible expectations for the new book. I’m just not sure anything else she writes will ever live up to the HP legacy that people love so much. I, however, am really excited to see what she has to bring for her first real “adult” novel and would love to know what you think.
