Showcase Sunday #10

Hello and welcome to Showcase Sunday. Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. For more information about how this feature works and how to join in, click here.

Hello everyone! It’s nice to see you again :) Can you believe it’s our 10th Showcase Sunday week already?
Also, happy July everyone! I’ll do a blog post about it (along with my plans for July, some books, etc) tomorrow but *drumroll* I’m back from my blogging break! Which means that I’ll be back next week with new posts, new reviews, new books, new energy and new plans. Huzzah!! And I also have a fantastic book haul to show you this week:

♦ No Time For Goodbye by Linwood Barclay (purchased)
♦ The Truth About Melody Browne by Lisa Jewell (purchased)
♦ Numbers by Rachel Ward (won)
♦ A Message to Your Heart by Niamh Greene (for review)
♦ From Doon With Death by Ruth Rendell (purchased)
♦ The Black Ice by Michael Connelly(purchased)
♦ The Last Temptation by Van McDermid(purchased)
♦ The Wire In The Blood by Val McDermid (purchased)

As you can see this week has been…quite busy! Numbers was actually part of last week’s haul, as I mentioned, but I forgot to include it in my list and take a photo then. This book has been on my wishlist for ages so I was really excited when I won a copy from Sally at Always Lost in Stories last month.  Thank you so much Sally! A Message to Your Heart is a review copy from the lovely Niamh Greene and Penguin Ireland and again, I can’t wait to pick this up. I just adore this cover – it definitely has a summery feel to it and it reminds me a little bit of Sophie Kinsella’s I’ve Got Your Number which I absolutely loved, so I hope it’s going to be great! Thank you Niamh and Penguin Ireland! :)

As for the other six books, I found a brilliant (Hungarian) second-hand online bookshop last week which sells English and German books. When I was flicking through their catalogue I found these six beauties and even though my to-be-read pile is getting out of control, I just couldn’t resist the temptation. I mean, they were like £2 each… and they’ve been on my wishlist for a while! (And even though they’re used, they’re in good condition)

Anyway, that’s it for this week! What did you all get? Make sure to leave a link to your own Showcase Sunday post in the linky below – and feel free to leave a comment after linking up and I’ll visit you back asap! :) xxx

You’re welcome! Glad it came okay, and I hope you enjoy reading it!
The only other one that I’ve read out of your book haul this week is No Time For Goodbye, but it was really good, very thrilling. You’ve got quite a mixture of books there- nice!
Welcome back to blogging- hope your exams went okay. x

Great haul as usual, Vicky! I’ve read NUMBERS before, and it was quite good, so I really hope you enjoy it. I’ve never heard of the others (heh), but the covers look amazing. Enjoy all your books! Can’t wait to hear what you think about NUMBERS, too!

Oh, was it good? Yay! I’m really looking forward to reading it! (The others are thriller/mysteries and sort of women’s fiction/chick lits :))

    • says

So do I! :) Although my problem with second-hand bookshops is that most of the time they don’t have the books I’m looking for. I was lucky with this one, though, they had quite a wide selection of books :)

      Thanks for stopping by!

Great books. I’ve read only “No time for goodbye” and I must say it is amazing thriller.I also recommend “Too close to home” by the same author. Also Michael Connelly is great author. Enjoy reading.

Oh, it sounds familiar! Thanks so much, I’ll have to check out if they have it or not. And yes! I’ve heard so many great things about MC’s books, I can’t wait to read them now :)

Oh no, not again?! So many people were complaining this week, it’s insane.. I’ve no idea what’s been going on with Blogger ever since I left a few months ago but it must be really annoying. Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by and I’m looking forward to seeing your haul next week! :)

I really enjoyed Numbers. And I love Val McDermid’s Tony Hill series (loved the TV adaptation, too)–I recommend reading those in order if you haven’t done so already, because it’s pretty cool seeing his relationship develop throughout it. It’s a great series.

Thanks Julie! Yes, definitely! That’s what everyone said to me so far. I ordered the first book in the series a few weeks ago so now I have book 1,2, and 3 :) Can’t wait to read them!

It’s my first Showcase Sunday too!

I read it a little while ago now but I remember really enjoying The Truth About Melody Brown. I keep meaning to read some of Val McDermid’s books but I haven’t got around to it yet.

      Welcome to Showcase Sunday!! :)
Val McDermid’s books are supposed to be really good so I can’t wait to pick them up, finally. x

I love finding second hand books! I’m still sad that my favorite store, just 5 minutes from my house, closed down :( They had so many wonderful books and I always came home with some new titles (soperhaps it’s better that they are gone :p haha)

The books look great! Indeed, nice conditions ^^ Happy reading 😀

Yes, aren’t they fantastic? We don’t have much of them in town and most of them don’t even have English books so I was v excited when I found this one :)

Woohoo great pile of books, I’ve got Numbers on my wishlist. I was about to tel you about Awesome Books who send to Europe free if more than one book is bought in one order…but they don’t include Hungary as part fo their Europe. Not so awesome.

Oh :( Yes, actually I was about to ask you if you knew any second-hand bookshops online who ship to the EU but I kept forgetting it. Too bad! But thanks so much for the recommendation!

    • says

Exactly!! I mean, I don’t like books that are falling apart but these are in very good condition. The spine is a bit creased but who cares? :)

  8. says

Nice haul!!! I haven’t read any of those, but I did pick up a copy of Numbers not too long ago. I haven’t gotten to it yet, but I’ll be looking forward to your thoughts on it. Maybe if you love it I will bump it up in my TBR pile :)

Hope your exams went well. I love books that inspire me, and I just won a book in a blog give away called Poor Little Rich Slum, which celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit in Asia’s largest slum – Dharavi. It is also available on Kindle and is truly inspirational.
Glad you found this lovely book store – happy reading.
