Hello and welcome back! Nail Your Books is a feature at The Princess of Storyland that Cristina created in order to show off some great book related nail ideas. They can be anything from a book inspired design to a matching nail varnish. Since I love nail varnishes and – as my Twitter followers know – I often create book cover inspired nail designs for myself, I decided to join this feature and bring them here to the blog to show you.
Hello everyone! Those of you who have been following me on Twitter for at least a few months might remember that a.) I’m a big fan of cutepolish‘s Youtube channel and b.) I adored her city skyline nails. So much so that I just couldn’t resist giving them a try back in August. (see the result here) When I was rearranging my bookcase the other day I realised it looks a little bit like the skyscrapers on Divergent’s cover. So I added a bit of glitter and silvery colours to the base coat and… well, this is how it turned out.

If you’d like to recreate this look, you’ll need the following:
- Base coat (Quick Dry Nail Colour 13 by Rival de Loop)
- Silver nail varnish (Metal Shine by Miss Sporty)
- Black nail varnish (Fatal Black by Miss Sporty) or a black nail art pen
- Top coat (Ultra Gloss Nail Shine by Essence)
- A cosmetic sponge
Tutorial:
The only thing you’ll need to change is the colours. After starting off with a base coat, I applied one coat of slightly darker blue and let it dry. Next, instead of the blue/purple combination, I applied some silver nail polish onto a cosmetic sponge and sponged this colour halfway down my nails. I also used this silver polish for the tiny windows (instead of the white one in the video). And the rest is the same.
Will you give it a try? Have you tried any book cover inspired nail designs recently?

OhmiGod! I love this! I recently bought Divergent and Insurgent so maybe this is a sign that I should just read them already.
I really like skylines. I have like, a ton of wallpapers of city skylines and so I will surely give this a try =D

Wow – Your nails are stunning! I love the design
And it fits so well with the cover!
How long does it take you to do them?

Aww, thank you! It depends – I think this one took me about half an hour or so. It depends on the nail polish I use because some of them take ages to dry.
This is amazing, Vicky! If I’m ever in the area, I just might have to look you up so that you can do this for me!

And I know! I actually saw your tweets the other day and it must be so much fun – I would have joined you guys if I hadn’t read it last year. Aren’t you planning on hosting an Insurgent readalong, by any chance? I’d be totally up for that – it’s been on my TBR list for ages!
I’m not sure if we will be doing an Insurgent read-a-long or not — but we are doing 1 each month as part of the TBR Pile Challenge. Next month is Delirium, have you read it yet?

Each month? Oh, I’ll have to check out your schedule. I haven’t read it yet but I don’t think I will either – it doesn’t really sound my cup of tea, to be frank
What are you reading in March?
Thos are completely awesome Vicky…I am so amazed at how talented you are…I can barely get one coat of one color to look decent when I do my nails! lol
