Bout of Books 10 is (Almost) Here!

bout of books icon

It’s that time again! Bout of Books is (almost) here! For everyone who hasn’t participated before, Bout of Books is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 12th and runs through Sunday, May 18th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 10 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog.

The books I’ll be reading this week are…

The Broken by Tamar Cohen

The Lying Down Room by Anna Jaquiery

I have one review copy I need to finish by next week (The Broken) because I’m part of the official blog tour and I need to write my review, so the first book I’ll pick up is definitely going to be Tamar’s novel. I really enjoyed one of her previous books, The Mistress’s Revenge, so I can’t wait to finally read this.

I don’t usually manage to finish more than one book in a week but since Bout of Books is all about challenging yourself and beating your own records, I’ll try to squeeze another book in. As The Lying-Down Room is already out and I’m waaay behind with my review, I decided to pick it up next. We’ll see how much time I’ll have left!

Day 1-3
Total number of pages I’ve read: 210

The first three days were pretty slow and unproductive but, in my defence, I didn’t have much free time. I was halfway through Victims by Jonathan Kellerman before the readathon began so I decided my first goal would be to finish it. I finished it on Wednesday and absolutely loved it.

Then I realised I still had a few chapters left of Fangirl, so Thursday’s plan was to read the remaining 51 pages. I love Rainbow Rowell’s writing but I didn’t love Fangirl as much as I loved Landline. (Full review to be posted soon :) )

Day 4
Number of pages I read today: 0
Total number of pages I’ve read: 210

Now that I finished both of these books, I can start reading Tamar Cohen’s new novel. The plan is to read at least 100 pages but we’ll see how I get on.

Have you guys signed up? What are you going to read?

I normally can only get through one book a week, too – but I set my goal at 2 books and hope I can accomplish it! Good luck and happy reading!

Same here! I still want to finish the one I’m reading right now (I’m halfway through, I still have another 150 pages to go) and I haven’t had much free time lately, so we’ll see how it goes.

  2. I completely forgot that it was so soon! It runs during my exams so I think my goal will be like one book. I’m hoping to read Breakable by Tamarra Webber. I hope you enjoy your books! And happy reading!

I’m not sure I’d be able to do this challenge. It takes me a lot longer then a week to finish a book. I’m a slow reader. Probably because I have so many other things going on. You know?
Good luck! I know you’ll be fine!

So am I! I usually finish a book in a week but I’ve been so busy lately that even one book seems to be a bit of a challenge. I definitely know what you mean!

    Good luck!

Like you I only usually read one book a week, or two books in a good week with not much else on! I’ve set my goal at 700 pages/2 books, because sometimes I find it’s easy to put the bigger books off (even though I really want to read them!) because small books mean a higher number of books completed. I’m hoping focusing on a page goal will make that less tempting.

Top of my list for Bout of Books 10 is Shadow of Night (Deborah Harkness), because I finished the first book last week and ended up really enjoying it.

Same here, I don’t think I’ve ever been able to read more than 2 books per week. I know what you mean and setting a page goal sounds like a good idea! I should have probably done that as well.

      Good luck!

  5. Good luck! The two books you’ve picked for this look really interesting – I look forward to hearing your thoughts on them.

Good luck with your goals, Vicky!

I usually read 1 book a week, too. So like you, I am challenging myself to 2+ books! :)

I look forward to seeing your progress & enjoy the read-a-thon! :)xxx

  7. You’re doing so well! Good luck with the rest of your reading. I can’t wait to read Landline. I loved E&P, and liked Fangirl okay. I’m excited to read your review of Landline. Yay! It’s Friday!
